New Summer Program At OFS

Plans are well under way for our 2015 summer program. We are compiling Summer Learning Goals for each student attending the program. Each student will have individual reading and math goals and depending on their individual needs may have writing, OT, and speech goals as well. The instruction will be goal centered and geared to the theme of the week. Progress toward goals will be reported each week. The morning will focus on academics with the weekly themes represented throughout reading, spelling, vocabulary, and math. The afternoons will be more experiential learning with labs and trips to explore the week’s theme. Horticulture is the first week’s theme. Topics will include growing seasons, irrigation, plant care, propagation, harvesting, and organic growing techniques. The remaining five weeks’ themes are: Week II (7/13-7/17) Outdoor Skills Week III (7/20-7/24) History and Economics of Riverton Week IV (7/27-7/31) Bodies in Motion Week V (8/3-8/7) Cooking and Chemistry Week VI (8/10-8-14) Propulsion and Rocketry Look for outlines of the afternoon plans for each theme to be posted on our site and summer page each week in May...
