The Doubling Rule

As many you know we use the Orton Gillingham approach to help put students meet their language challenges… note the double l’s. The doubling rule helps our students decode or read a word and encode or spell that word correctly. Ironically the “doubling rule” will have an exciting new meaning during these last two months of 2014. Orchard Friends School has received a very supportive challenge from two members of our school committee. They will match any donations received from our upcoming #givingtuesday and our Annual Giving campaign. Whatever we raise will be matched and your support will thus be doubled. How often do you get a chance to double your investment? How exciting is it to know that investment will support the great students at Orchard Friends School?   HALLOWEEN Conversation Corner Halloween was exhausting ! A video was recorded on Friday by Geoffrey Guthe (Yas), the son of Board Member Kiyo Moriuchi. We thought you would enjoy a peek into a day in the life of the students at OFS! Thank you Yas for capturing our day on video! It was fabulous! Click on here to see our Halloween activities.  Pumpkin painting, pumpkin weighing, games in the gym followed by a delicious lunch provided by OFS parents! After lunch the students dressed in their costumes, trekked to the nursing home in Riverton to visit the residents and then returned for a parade for their families. Parade participants were announced by none other than Harry Kalas, aka Cameron! Then the students went home to gather their treats. It was a day full of fun. Sweet!!...
